Brief for iPhone

Write to us

dev@whetstonedev.net

Tell us what happened and, if it’s about your account, the email address you sign in with. In the app, the address is at the bottom of Profile → Settings, under “Questions or a problem?”.

Delete your account or guest data

Profile → Settings → Delete account, then Continue, type DELETE, and tap Delete forever.

This permanently deletes your account, streak and all your progress. It can’t be undone. If you signed in with Apple, it also revokes Brief’s access to your Apple Account.

Deleting your account doesn’t cancel a Brief Pro subscription. Cancel it in your App Store subscriptions first (below). The first “Delete account?” message has a Manage subscriptions button for this.

Using Brief as a guest? Go to Profile → Settings → Delete guest data. It permanently deletes this phone’s guest streak, progress and settings from our servers. Guest data is also deleted automatically after 90 days without use. More about deleting data.

Cancel or manage Brief Pro

Brief Pro is billed by Apple, so it’s managed in the App Store, not in Brief:

It renews automatically until you cancel. If you’re on a free trial, cancel at least 24 hours before it ends or you’ll be charged. For a refund, ask Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com: Brief can’t issue App Store refunds.

Restore purchases

New phone, or reinstalled Brief? Sign in with the same account you used before, then open Brief Pro (Profile → Brief Pro, or See Brief Pro on any Pro feature) and tap Restore purchases at the bottom. Brief checks the App Store for purchases made with the Apple ID on this iPhone.

If it says “Nothing to restore”, check you’re signed in to the App Store with the Apple ID that bought Brief Pro, then try again or write to us.

Signing in

Brief offers two ways in:

Already have an account made with an email address and password? It still works: on the sign-in screen, enter your email and password and tap Sign in. New accounts can’t be made with email for now.

To make an account from a guest session, go to Profile → Create an account. Signing in with Apple there keeps your guest progress. If that Apple ID already has a Brief account, you’ll sign in to that account instead, and the guest progress isn’t moved to it.

Forgot your password? Brief doesn’t have a password reset in the app yet. Write to dev@whetstonedev.net from the address you signed up with and we’ll help you back in.

Stop using Sign in with Apple with Brief: Apple explains how in Manage your apps with Sign in with Apple. Deleting your Brief account also does this for you.

Report or block someone

Reporting and blocking are for accounts. A person at Brief reads every report, and the reader you report isn’t told who sent it.

Pick a reason (offensive name, pretending to be someone, harassment, spam, or something else) and add a note if you like. A block hides that reader from you on the leaderboard, in squads and in your challenges; they aren’t told, and a person at Brief takes a look. Unblock in Profile → Settings → Blocked readers.

The daily reminder

Brief sends one reminder a day, at the time you chose, when today’s briefs are ready. Turn it on or off in Profile → Settings → Daily reminder.
